Hey. Just wanted to join a community with fellow fur mommies so I can show off pictures of my wonderful baby boy.

Well... He's not so much a baby anymore. =P

Anyways. My name is Krystal and I'm a Senior at WVU, majoring in Animal Science and Nutrition. And my constant compainion is a German Shepherd/Akita mix named Neko.

I adopted Neko last January when I was living way out in the mountains with my ex-boyfriend who worked graveyard shifts. I wanted something slightly intimidating-looking so would-be robbers would think twice about intruding since I was home alone more than most of the time. I adopted Neko from a potential backyard breeder (who had plans on breeding him to a GSD/Newfoundland. Not kidding).

Well... Almost a year has went by. Since then, the ex and I had a falling out (I kept the dog since I know Neko would either be pound-bound if I didn't or tied up in his mom's backyard on a 12ft tow chain the rest of his life). Neko goes EVERYWHERE with me. To class, sometimes to work, even on a vacation in Canada this summer. Unfortunately, I had to move in town into a small apartment, but over three times a week, Neko is at my boyfriend's farm running free. And of course, we have our daily walks and trips to the dog park, weather permitting.

For being a 75 lb dog in this place, he's extremely calm and well-behaved. No whining, no barking, no separation anxiety, no chewing. He's a perfect angel.

Right now though, we're dealing with some food allergies. He's recovering nicely, but Neko still looks a bit... Bald. I've talked to two vets and my groomer about his coat, but was told that it'll take 6-8 weeks for all the bad stuff to run it's course and get out of his system. He's doing MUCH better now that I've found a food that suits him, but he still looks kinda ratty now. So any advice on that region is most welcome.

First time to Yoga in about two weeks and I can't wait.

We are going for a Yin class to re-introduce ourselves to practice again.

I really can't wait to be a regular at the studio once more.

Anyone every built a dog house? I'm moving into a place with a dog run and I'd like to make use of it but it's been rainy here lately and I've decided to build a dog house to save a buck. I know not to use pressure treated wood and raise it off the ground. Here's the formula I'm using for measurements:
Depth = dog's length + 12"
Width = dog's length + 18"
Height = dog's height + 3" (low side), height + 9" (high side)

Any other tips I may need to know?

Dahlia and I went down to Petsmart today to get her picture taken with Santa. Everyone ADORED her there. I got some pretty nice and some pretty funny pictures of her while there.

Miao. Friends came over for steamboat and games to celebrate Jason Bloodnite belated birdday earlier.

I had to leave my house for halfway to meet another client (met clients whole day today. tiredz) @westcoastplaza.

When I went back home eventually, some frens left liao. So paiseh :s

But tis' always good to have frens over for their gd company =)

This is the second day in a row, i have a craving for eggs...totally unusual. But it has to be satisfied...last night, i just whipped up some soft boiled eggs, well it was 3am...tonight...or should i say now, I am off to make a egg curry!!

I am thankful it doesnt require much ingredients...yummmmmm egg curry with bread....see ya later!

Update: it's an hour later.... fish and egg curry in my tummy...and i whipped up some coconut rice while the curry was cookin. Well...this happy belly is off to bed....gotta exercise tomorrow to work this indulgence off!

It has been a couple of Sundays now where I CHOOSE to stay home, and just chill with dad.

We aren't really hanging out the whole day....I have my naps to catch up on sleep and dad has his usual afternoon nap.

But I do make an effort to cook dinner for the two of us...then we sit down...enjoy the new recipe together, break down what we like and disliked about it...then share a little bit of ice cream together and just talk.

I wish more people took the time to just sit down and enjoy a meal with no distraction with their family. Too often the tv is. Really...it makes such a difference....since I started doing this...dad and I have connected better, and our arguments aren't as frequent. We seem to just have a better understanding of each other...like the old times.... .

I might be strange for some, but for me, I really treasure these times. As morbid as it sounds, I just don't want to look back later and regret not spending enough time with him.

It is fun hanging out with my cheeky old man...and sharing some laffs, thoughts, fears. We had some wine...and as usual...dad said it was going to his head....sigh....terrible....but I love him.

Dad made a comment that he loved me in the new dress last night, and when i left for my dinner and dance, he felt a little lump in his throat...it FINALLY dawned on him that I am growing up.

My retort? "Dude!! I am 32 next month! I think you are a little late on that memo!"

His answer?? "Sorry, that realisation that you have grown up lasted all of 5 minutes. You are back at 3 yrs old...just really stretched" *GRIN*

Tonight, we had lean pork steaks wrapped with bacon, baked apples, little potato balls and fresh veggies in a jap dressing...DELIGHTFUL.
